Dishwasher Repair β€” Book a Visit Today

Dishwashers fail in ways you smell before you see. Standing water at the bottom. Dishes coming out gritty. A puddle creeping under the toe kick toward the floor joists. Most of it traces back to a handful of parts: drain pump, wash motor, inlet valve, door gasket, control board, or a clogged sump full of glass chips and label glue. A visit starts with us pulling the lower rack and looking at the sump, then checking fill and drain under a live cycle. We test before we replace parts. Older Connecticut kitchens complicate things: cramped cabinet cutouts, shared drain lines, shutoffs buried behind a disposal. We work in those spaces every week. Call us and describe what the machine is doing.

Dishwasher Repair β€” residential dishwasher being serviced

The dishwasher symptoms we hear most

  • There's water sitting in the bottom every morning Drain pump, clogged sump filter, or a kinked or high-looped drain hose
  • Dishes come out with grit and film still on them Weak wash pressure, blocked spray arm jets, or low fill from the inlet valve
  • Water is seeping onto the kitchen floor mid-cycle Failed door gasket, cracked sump seal, or a loose hose clamp under the tub
  • It hums, then quits without filling Stuck inlet valve, closed supply shutoff, or a float switch reading full
  • Buttons light up but nothing starts Door latch switch, control board fault, or a stored error locking the cycle out

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call β€” sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Open the door mid-cycle and look for water spraying, then feel if the water is actually hot.
  • 2Pull the bottom rack and unscrew the filter basket to clear food, glass shards and grease.
  • 3Spin both spray arms by hand and poke a toothpick through any jets that look plugged.
  • 4If you have a garbage disposal, run it for a few seconds and confirm the drain plug was removed at install.

Dishwasher Repair β€” quick answers

Why does my dishwasher smell sour even when it's empty?

Trapped food in the sump and a greasy filter cause most of it. A biofilm can also build inside the drain hose. Clean the filter, run a hot empty cycle. If the smell returns quickly, the sump or hose likely needs attention.

Is a dishwasher that won't drain always the pump?

No. We check the filter, sump, air gap, disposal inlet and drain hose loop first. A blockage anywhere in that path mimics a dead pump. Testing the pump for continuity and free rotation tells us which repair is actually needed.

Can you work on a dishwasher built into old cabinets?

Yes. Tight cutouts, thick countertop overhangs and short supply lines are normal in older housing stock. We pull the unit carefully, protect the flooring, and reset it level so the door seals and latches the way it should.

How long does a typical repair take?

Many jobs finish in one visit once we've confirmed the fault. Diagnosis usually takes a portion of an hour, then the repair depends on the part. If something uncommon has to be ordered, we tell you before we leave.

Should I keep using it while it leaks a little?

Please don't. Small leaks soak subfloor and cabinet bases, and the damage costs more than the appliance problem. Shut the supply valve, stop running cycles, and call us so we can find the source.

Do you repair every brand?

We service all major residential brands as an independent company. That covers built-in units, drawer models and compact dishwashers. Tell us the brand and model when you call so we arrive with likely parts on the truck.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form. Describe what you hear, smell or see. Brand and rough age help. We ask a few questions so the tech arrives with likely parts on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

Pick a window that works. Our tech tests the machine, checks power, water and drainage, then explains what failed in plain words. No jargon, no guessing out loud at your kitchen table.

  3. Step 3

    Repair or straight answer

Most jobs finish the same visit. If a part must be ordered, we tell you what and why. If the unit isn't worth fixing, we say that too, and you decide.
