Why did my ice maker stop after we changed the water filter?
An aftermarket filter, or one that isn't seated all the way, can restrict flow enough to starve the fill valve. Reseat it, run a few quarts through the dispenser, and give it a day. Still nothing? The valve or the line may have iced over during the dry spell.
Can you fix the ice maker without replacing the whole refrigerator?
Usually yes. Most failures sit in one part: valve, module, thermistor, motor, or a frozen fill tube. We test to isolate which one. Replacing the whole unit only makes sense when the sealed system itself is going, and we'll say so plainly.
How long does an ice maker repair take?
Most jobs are one appointment. Diagnosis goes quick once we can reach the water line and the control. If a part has to be ordered for your model, we come back to install it. You'll know the plan before we leave the first time.
My ice smells and tastes bad. Is that a repair?
Sometimes. Dump the bin, wash it, and let fresh ice build up. If the odor comes back, we look at door seals, filter age, and standing water in the mold. Ice takes on whatever the freezer air carries, so the real fix is often somewhere else.
Do you handle standalone and under-counter ice machines?
Yes. Under-counter and freestanding units have their own quirks. Condenser coils pack with lint, gravity drains need slope, pumps lose prime. Basement and wet-bar installs are common around here, and we're used to working in cramped cabinet bays.
Water pools in the freezer instead of making cubes. What's happening?
Usually the fill tube is misaligned or partly frozen, so water spills before it reaches the mold. It can also be a valve that won't close all the way. Both are repairable. Clear the ice buildup first so we can see where it's coming from.
